My Ferrero Rocher Inspired Cake

I had my birthday recently, and I decided to make my own cake. I love chocolate and hazelnuts, so I made a Ferrero Rocher inspired cake.

It’s a dairy-free and gluten-free cake. To make the recipe paleo-friendly, use coconut flour instead of flax meal. However, I like using flax meal, because it makes the cake a little bit lighter.


I decided to share how I made my cake just to give you a few ideas. It’s quite rich and decadent, but it’s a birthday cake after all. The recipe makes 8-10 big slices.

It was a simple one layer cake. The way I made the cake is similar to my cakey brownie recipe. However, I doubled the ingredients and used some hazelnut butter instead of tahini. Also, I replaced some of the flax meal and desiccated coconut with some coconut flour.

I baked for about 18 minutes, and I let it cool down completely.


Then, I made ganache by combining some melted dark chocolate with some hazelnut butter, coconut oil, and a little bit of coconut milk.

When the ganache cooled down completely, I added some ground hazelnuts. Then I spread the ganache over the cake.

I decorated it with some chocolate-covered hazelnuts and some truffles that I made the day before.

The recipe for the truffles or bliss balls is very simple. I ground some hazelnuts, then added a few dates, cocoa powder, and hazelnut butter. I mixed everything in the food processor.

Then I rolled small balls out of the mixture and put them in the fridge overnight.


Finally, I sprinkled some more ground hazelnuts over the cake.

It was heavenly and everybody loved it!

Cook Time: 18 minutes

Yield: 8-10

My Ferrero Rocher Inspired Cake


For the cake

Double the ingredients for this recipe

Use hazelnut butter instead of tahini

For the ganache

80 g (3 oz) chocolate

3 tablespoons coconut oil

3 tablespoons hazelnut butter

1/4 cup of milk of your choice

Ground hazelnuts - optional

For the truffles

6 dates

3 tablespoons hazelnut butter

1/4 cup ground hazelnuts

2-3 tablespoons cocoa powder

For decoration

Chocolate-covered hazelnuts - optional

Ground hazelnuts - optional


For the cake

Follow the step in this recipe to make the cake.

For the truffles

Soak the dates in warm water until they soften a bit.

Ground the nuts in the food processor.

Add the rest of the ingredients and process until you have a homogenous mixture.

Shape balls out of the mixture and leave them in the fridge for a few hours to harden up a bit.

For the ganache

Melt the chocolate, add coconut oil, hazelnut butter, and milk and mix thoroughly.

Let the ganache cool down to room temperature and spread it over the chilled cake.

For decoration

Use the truffles to decorate the cake however you like.

Sprinkle ground nuts.

Leave the cake in the fridge for a few hours to set.
