Easy-To-Make Vegan Apple Pie

Jump to recipe

Yum

Here’s another autumn classic recipe – the apple pie. This pie is a little different – it’s much more simple, but delicious nevertheless.
The recipe is completely gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan, and requires only a few ingredients.

The crust is made with vegetable oil, but I recommend using some light-tasting oil. Olive oil, for example, has a relatively strong flavor to my taste, so I wouldn’t use it for this recipe. I used rice flour to make my crust gluten-free, but you can use any flour you like.

For sweetener, I used combination of sugar and maple syrup, but you can use any sweetener of your choice. The quantity depends on your preference and on the sweetness of your apples.

Ingredients

For the crust
  • 1 ½ cup of flour
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1/3 cup of vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon of water

For the filling
  • 2 medium sized apples
  • 3 tablespoons of maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • Cinnamon to taste
  • ¼ cup of walnuts

Directions

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

Mix the flour with the salt and sugar.

Add the water and the oil and mix until they are well combines.

The mixture doesn’t have to look like dough, but it should stay together when you press it.

Spread the crust mixture onto your tray and make holes with a fork.

Bake for about 10 minutes.

In the mean time, slice your apples very thinly and chop the walnuts.

Mix the maple syrup with the sugar, the cinnamon and the chopped walnuts.

Then, add the sweet mixture to the apples and mix them thoroughly so every slice of apple is covered with the sweet mixture.

Take the crust out of the oven and spread the filling on it.

Bake for about 25-30 more minutes or until the apples are soft.

Let it cool down and enjoy! A scoop of ice cream on top is a lovely addition.

Bon appetit!

  1. Happy to chance on your site tonite . I indeed to be gluten and dairy free these days.

    1. Thank you for your comment! Luckily, there are many ways to have delicious desserts while eating dairy-free and gluten-free. 🙂

  2. Uhm, the base of your apple pie is made from flour – the recipe doesn’t specify gluten-free flour. How then is this recipe gluten free?

By the way, ‘gluten free’ is a hoax – your body is simply reacting allergic to the animal products you consume, to such a degree that it has also become allergic to any other protein, i.e., plant proteins, you consume – an unenviable position. Find relief of this protein allergy by omitting ALL animal-based ‘foods’ and products from your diet and going 100% plant-based.

    1. Thank you for this information and I’m sorry for the delayed response! I personally don’t follow a gluten-free diet, but the recipe can be easily made GF with rice flour and/or oat flour, I should have specified this!
