Here’s a delicious and indulgent chocolate hazelnut mousse recipe. The mousse is plant-based, easy to make and doesn’t require cooking. Doesn’t it sound heavenly?
This isn’t my first raw vegan chocolate mousse recipe, but this mousse is so tasty, flavorful and rich, that it quickly became my favorite – mainly because it’s made with hazelnut butter and real dark chocolate.
It doesn’t sound like a big quantity, but I can easily make 3 or 4 small servings with these ingredients. It’s a rich and satisfying treat.
Usually, I use a blender or a food processor to make my mousse, but for this recipe, I used a hand mixer and this helped the texture a lot. This chocolate hazelnut mousse is so light and fluffy; it’s like eating a chocolate cloud! It’s best served right after it’s made. However, you can serve it chilled too.
I used the cream from a can of chilled full-fat coconut milk, but you can just buy your coconut cream.
This yummy dessert proves that you don’t have to be good at cooking to be able to make exquisite treats.
Notes
If you are vegan, make sure you are using dairy-free/vegan dark chocolate.
You can use a blender or a food processor if you prefer.
Instead of milk, you can use the coconut water that’s left after scooping out the coconut cream.
Ingredients
- 1/3 coconut cream
- 1 medium banana
- 20 g (0.7oz) dark chocolate
- 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon hazelnut butter
- 3 tablespoons plant-based milk of your choice
- Vanilla extract – optional
Topping
- Chopped hazelnuts
- Chopped dark chocolate
Instructions
- For the coconut cream, refrigerate a can of full-fat coconut milk overnight, then scoop out the solid fat that’s on top of the can.
- Peel and chop the banana roughly. You can mash it with a fork a little bit beforehand too.
- Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and beat everything using a hand mixer. Start on a lower setting and gradually increase the speed until you have a fluffy and homogenous mixture.
- Serve and top with chopped hazelnuts and chopped dark chocolate.
- Enjoy!

This looks amazing Ellie. I really need to diet again.
Thank you so much, Scott! 🙂
I’ll bet my husband would love this. He’s a bigger fan of hazelnuts than I am. I’m more fond of almonds and walnuts. Could one substitute almond butter for hazelnut butter?
Hi, Barbara! I’m sorry for the delayed reply! Yes, you can use any nut butter of your choice. 🙂
Ellie, just a wonderful easy dessert! Yum!
Thank you very much, Sophie! 🙂
